This year's 32nd issue of Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion will announce on Thursday that Masami Kurumada (Saint Seiya) will begin a new manga series in the 33rd issue on July 16.The work will be titled Ai no Jidai (Ichigoe Ichie) (Indigo Period: Once in a Lifetime). The story will be semi-autobiographical fiction.

9日発売の同誌32号では、「さかのぼること40年以上。秀才（インテリ）にはほど遠く、不良（ツッパリ）にもなりきれない少年は、少年マンガに将来の希望を見いだした」と新連載について告知している。車田さんのマンガ家デビュー40周年記念の最終企画で、初回は全22ページで掲載予定。
連載は全8回の予定で、車田さんの中学生時代から、マンガ家デビューし、その人気を確立するまでを描く。自身の経験をベースにしつつ、大胆にアレンジしたエンターテインメント作品になるため「超自伝（的）マンガ」と銘打っている。
