　セガは，週刊少年ジャンプで連載された漫画「聖闘士星矢」を題材とした多人数参加型オンラインゲームの展開に関して，中国Beijing Perfect World Network Technology（Perfect World社のグループ会社に当たる）とライセンス契約を締結したことを，本日（2011年5月20日）発表した。ただし，このオンラインゲームは中国市場向けのもので，日本でのサービスについては今のところ不明。

株式会社セガ（本社：東京、代表取締役社長COO：臼井興胤、以下セガ）は、Perfect World 社（本社：中国北京市、社長兼CEO：池宇峰）のグループ会社であるBeijing Perfect World Network Technology Co., Ltd.)と、株式会社集英社（以下、集英社）が発行する「週刊少年ジャンプ」に連載された人気漫画『聖闘士星矢』を題材とした、多人数同時参加型オンラインゲームを中国で正式サービスするための展開に関して、ライセンス契約を締結いたしました。

本契約により、中国市場に向けてオンラインゲーム『聖闘士星矢ONLINE』の展開準備を進めており、中国でのサービスについてはPerfect World 社が2011 年中にユーザー向けテストの開始を予定しております。

漫画『聖闘士星矢』は日本のみならず、アジア・北米・南米・ヨーロッパの各地で翻訳されており、世界中に多くのファンを持ち、とりわけ中国では人気の高いコンテンツです。
また、中国新聞出版総署が発表した2010 年の中国オンラインゲーム市場規模は約323 億元（4037 億円）で、今後も増加の見込みとなっており、中国オンラインゲーム市場は目覚ましい発展を遂げています。Perfect World 社は中国国内でトップクラスのオンラインゲームの開発・運営会社であり、「パーフェクトワールド -完美世界-」をはじめとする人気オンラインゲームをリリースしております。
