It is with great sadness that we give you this news: Shingo Araki died, the main character designer of the animated series of the Knights of the Zodiac. Along with Michi Himeno, Shingo Araki was one of the pillars of the animated version.
Shingo Araki was 72 years old (born in Osaka, on January 1, 1939) and had been ill for some time, but little information about it had been disclosed so far.
He worked as character designer for other anime, such as Babel II, Cutey Honey, Lady Oscar, etc., but it was with the Knights of the Zodiac he won deserved renown.
It may well have some note from series creator Masami Kurumada in the coming days. Here is our report and our feeling!
Note: the picture we have one of the last public appearances of Shingo Araki, at an event in France this year!
