translation in English by me
Please, Would someone translate in Chinese for everybody?

How did you come up with the idea to combine elements of ancient Greece and constellations in the "SaintSeiya"?
Kurumada - The universe of my manga is made of stories and characters who are striking, determined (by a "burning blood") and I use various components to compose this framework. In the case of the "Saint Seiya" I took inspiration from the story of the Greek gods.
The characters of "Knights of the Zodiac" have quite different personalities. How did you create the characters?
Kurumada - Sometimes I took inspiration from movies and TV. More simply, I create all my characters when I'm alone at my desk.
We've felt the aim by you to convey a message of courage to your readers. When you make a story, is this purpose clear?
Kurumada - I believe that manga exist primarily as leisure, so I do not think to put a specific message. The manga isn't a book to study. I write hoping that readers enjoy my story, but if they could transpose more while entertaining, as a cartoonist I would feel fully made.
"Saint Seiya" is a big hit in Brazil. How do you consider the success of a your own work in a country that is half a world away, with such a different culture?
Kurumada - I'm sorry to say I wasn't aware of the boom of "SaintSeiya" in Brazil. In Japan news barely arrive from Brazil.
However, I believe that when you make a story about friendship and justice, feelings that are the essence of the human being, there aren't cultural boundaries. The reader of any country can share the same emotion, if these ingredients are included in the story.
Along with the success of "Saint Seiya", many fanzine born in Japan. What's your opinion on?
Kurumada - I'd rather not comment about...
How many people worked with you in the production of the manga of "Saint Seiya"?
Kurumada - My staff consisted of 8 assistants.
Which design are you currently developing?
Kurumada - I'm publishing a story entitled "B'T-X", in the weekly magazine "Shonen ACE" by the publisher Kadokawa Shoten. It 's my first project with robots (mecha) and I'm dedicating it enough.
"B'T-X" is being made into anime and it's going to start in Japan since April of this year. It may be presented in Brazil too, so keep waiting for!
To conclude, any message for Brazilian fans?
Kurumada - I think that even with a different climate and culture, an interesting story will be universally accepted.
I'll go on writing and drawing exciting stories, and so I ask the fans of Brazil to support me in my work. |
